Spain have thrashed Germany 6-0 in the Nations League this evening with Manchester City’s Ferran Torres grabbing a hat-trick.
The European heavyweights squared off in Group D action on Tuesday night and they went ahead thanks to an Alvaro Morata header, with the Juventus man beating Serge Gnabry in the air.
Torres then got his first goal of the evening just after the half hour mark before Rodri grabbed a third.
It could have gone wrong for Luis Enrique’s side, as captain Sergio Ramos went off with an injury just before half time.
But it didn’t matter and a lot of that is down to 20-year-old Torres.
The winger slotted home his second and third of the game in the second half before Mikel Oyarzabal completed the rout in the 89th minute.
It rivals Germany’s heaviest ever competitive defeat and it’s an evening to forget for Manuel Neuer, who became his country’s most-capped goalkeeper of all time.
Fans have reacted to the result and they can’t believe Germany’s capitulation.
Spain will now play in the Nations League finals and are top of their group with 11 points.
Pressure continues to mount on Joachim Low meanwhile, as Germany continue to look a shadow of the side that won the 2014 World Cup..
